Hotel du Vieux Quebec is a three-star class hotel that punches well above that class. Our room was quiet, comfortable, and scrupulously clean. It was on the small side, but not problematically so. All the staff we dealt with were cheerful and generously helpful. The hotel is well-located in Old Quebec within easy walking distance of the usual sites, Palais Montcalm, the VIA Rail station, and, by a longer walk, the Musee des Beaux Arts du Quebec. We adored the breakfast basket with fresh pastries that was brought to the room each morning. The other TripAdvisor reviews are not just the gushings of reviewer generosity. They are recognition of the quality of this hotel. - Godzillabird
We spent three nights at this property last week and we are so glad we did. Our room was pristine and spacious--and quiet. We were on the second level (considered the first) and we couldn't hear any sounds from the street, hallway or neighboring rooms. We were early for check-in so we parked on a nearby street and had a great lunch at the restaurant that shares the entrance with the hotel, Bistro Hortus (not sure if they are related but convenient and delicious option if you need to eat during your stay). While eating lunch the restaurant texted to say our room was ready and we pulled up on the side small street and checked in and unloaded our bags. We were given a ticket for a parking garage that was diagonal to the hotel. It really couldn't have been easier. We were able to take the car out at our convenience--which we did to visit Montmorency Falls and Ile d'Orleans (loved both, easy drive). We enjoyed the common room---we filled our water jugs (they have them to borrow too), enjoyed complimentary espressos, played Scrabble and borrowed a book. It really was a nice spot if you needed to just sit after a long day of exploring the city by foot (or bike). The location was perfect for us. We would set out and purposely get lost--or we would head to a specific restaurant or historic site and they were all walkable. Although we didn't need help with restaurants the staff seemed really helpful with recommendations. And they were very friendly every time we interacted with them. If you like sushi, Masaru is a few doors down and I am still thinking about it. It was excellent and a nice break from the cuisine we were (really!) enjoying. We also had wonderful dinners at Chez Rioux & Pettigrew, Legende and Ophelia. All walkable. We would definitely stay here again. A real gem of a property in a welcoming and beautiful city. - amandgc
We stayed at HdVQ back in January, 2018 during a severe winter cold snap ( better late than never on this review!).  Location was an important consideration because I was in a walking boot, having broken my ankle 2 weeks before our trip. We also wanted a smaller, local place with some character instead of a chain and, of course, value for money.  Well, HdVQ delivered on all of these and more. The staff, ambience, rooms, and amenities were all excellent. We availed ourselves of the breakfast baskets each morning, and recommend them as well. We cabbed to/from the airport so parking was a non-issue. Given all this, it really is amazing the rates are so reasonable.  Oh, and BTW, one of the 10 best restaurants in QC is just across from the lobby in the same building! I hope we return to QC. If so, this will be our home base. - Y9586CEmarkk

The decor is new and fun, music 50s/60s but not obtrusive, there is a pleasant diner vibe, but
