We had a few nights booked for our family of 5 during the month of September. Having never stayed on a National Historic site we didn't know what to expect. Well honestly this stay outdid even our most optimistic hopes. We had the entire site to ourselves after the gates closed at 5! Eat dinner at the top of the gun battery overlooking the Inlet? Done! Let the kids walk down to the oldest lighthouse on the West Coast of Canada while we made hot chocolate using the provided camp stove, propane, mugs and kettle? Done! Go exploring the bunkers and walkways in dark with a flashlight for a spooky adventure? Naw the kids were too chicken. The Otentik itself was cozy and super clean and when it got a bit chilly we plugged in the little heater that came in the tent and we warmed up. None of us wanted to leave so the staff generously allowed us to extend our stay by shuffling their own work schedule! Just can't say enough about how great it was. Bring your sleeping bags, cooler, food and some wine and the rest is there. Million dollar experience for a hundred and twenty. - mlH3853TT
Try Glamping! A little glamor with a little of the rugged camping. This historic world war 1 and 2 museum Provincial Park offers an insight to what the brave men and women of Canada lived like day to day during history most trying times. Our family stayed for 2 nights here, should’ve stayed longer, it was an amazing adventure. We had the whole entire park to ourselves nightly from 5:30pm that was closed off from the public to the following day when it was opened back to the public. We loved exploring all 3 off the battalions and walking to the light house to capture the sunset and enjoying the majestic views. Special thanks to Shauna, Jessica and the many staffs from Fort Rodd Hill Historic Provincial Park. You made our stays memorable and picture perfect. We will be back over and over again cause of the great work and great environment you bestow to the park - Ethosology
This was our first overnight stay at Ford Rodd Hill and we loved it!  The site is beautiful with the historic battlements, the Fisguard light house and the surrounding pebble beach. These are available to just the oTENTik dwellers from 5pm to 10am when the park is closed to other visitors (for our stay only 3 tents were occupied for a total of 11 people).  Site #1 has a picturesque view of the water through trees.  There is also a group of deer living in the area (we saw seven in the field in the morning) and other small wildlife (geese, owls, raccoons). The accommodations are basic but we loved that we didn't have to bring a tent and lots of camping gear to have the camping experience. I agree with a previous reviewer that it gets cold at night in September so definitely bring extra blankets and even a thermal camping pad to sleep on to keep your back warm.  Food needs to be eaten outside and stored in the building across the field to keep the raccoons out of the tents. There are fridges, bins for dry goods and even a microwave for a fast heat-up. There are also two large gas BBQs and a covered area for eating. - Almira201
